Hours after his heated exchange with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office which scuttled a planned economic partnership, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy declined in a Fox News interview to apologize to Trump.

The testy exchange began with Vice President JD Vance praising Trump for negotiating directly with Russia over ending the war that began with Russia's 2022 invasion and occupation of Ukraine. Zelenskyy argued that Russia's prior actions have shown it to be an untrustworthy diplomatic partner, to which Vance responded that the Ukrainian president was being "disrespectful" to Trump.

In an interview with Bret Baier on Fox News Channel's Special Report, Zelenskyy at first sidestepped the question of whether he owed Trump an apology.

Egypt has firmly dismissed any proposals suggesting it take over the temporary administration of the Gaza Strip, reiterating its unwavering commitment to a comprehensive and lasting resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Any proposals that circumvent the constants of the Egyptian and Arab position, and the sound foundations for dealing with the essence of the conflict, are "rejected and unacceptable," Egypt’s official Middle East News Agency reported on Wednesday, citing the Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Tamim Khalaf.

During a news conference with President Trump, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Thursday that his country is ready to put "boots on the ground" to support a peace deal in Ukraine as Starmer said they had a "very good and productive visit."

Achieving lasting peace in Ukraine and ending Russia's full-scale invasion was top of the agenda for Starmer and Mr. Trump in Starmer's first visit to the White House since Mr. Trump took office, as Mr. Trump said Thursday that he trusts Russian President Vladimir Putin to keep his word on any peace agreement they reach.

"We discussed a plan today to reach a peace that is tough and fair, that Ukraine will help shape, that's backed by strength, to stop Putin coming back for more," Starmer said. "I'm working closely with other European leaders on this, and I'm clear that the U.K. is ready to put boots on the ground and planes in the air to support a deal, working together with our allies, because that is the only way that peace will last."

President Trump on Thursday cut off talk during a press conference with United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer about his desire to make Canada “the 51st state,” with Starmer insisting there is no daylight between the two leaders on top issues.
