The White House has released its justification for violating the Iran nuclear deal and re-imposing sanctions lifted under the deal.

“The re-imposed sanctions will target critical sectors of Iran’s economy, such as its energy, petrochemical, and financial sectors,” according to the White House brief. “Those doing business in Iran will be provided a period of time to allow them to wind down operations in or business involving Iran.

Senator Bob Menendez, the top Democrat on the Senate foreign relations committee, condemned Trump’s decision to withdraw from the accord as “a grave mistake”.

“With this decision President Trump is risking US national security, recklessly upending foundational partnerships with key US allies in Europe and gambling with Israel’s security,” Menendez said in a statement.

N Korean foreign minister blasts tough guy pressure by USNorth Korea's foreign ministry has warned Washington not to "mistake its peace-loving intentions for a sign of weakness," blasting claims that the U.S-led campaign of pressure and sanctions on the NOrth paved the way for the upcoming summit between Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un.

In an interview with (North) Korean Central News Agency on Sunday, a foreign ministry spokesman said the United States has "misled public opinion by making it appear its sanctions and pressure had led to the recently adopted Panmunjom Declaration between the two Koreas revealing their intention to denuclearize the Peninsula.

Algeria state TV: 257 killed in Boufarik military plane crash

Algerian military plane down; 257 dead

At least 257 people have been killed after a military plane crashed near the Boufarik airbase outside the Algerian capital, Algiers, according to Algerian state television.

The plane, an Ilyushin Il-76, mostly carried soldiers when it went down shortly after takeoff on Wednesday morning, state TV reported.

Algeria's defence ministry was quoted as saying that 247 passengers and 10 crew members were among the dead following the crash.

Canada police say 14 dead after hockey bus crash

14 hockey team members and coach die in bus crashCanadian police said early Saturday 14 people were killed and 14 people were injured after a truck collided with a bus carrying a junior hockey team to a playoff game in Western Canada.

Police say there were 28 people, including the driver, on board the bus of the Humboldt Broncos team when the crash occurred around 5 p.m. Friday on Highway 35 in Saskatchewan.

"We can now confirm fourteen people have died as a result of this collision," The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said in a release early Saturday.

London crime wave: Shock as six teenagers stabbed in 90 minutes

London stabbingsShocked residents of the British capital called for an end to a surge in violence that now includes six teenagers stabbed in the space of 90 minutes.

The incidents came days after London's murder rate surpassed New York City's for the first time. At least 55 people have been killed in London in 2018, over 30 of them in stabbings.

Police in the Tower Hamlets borough of east London said Thursday that two 15-year-old boys were taken to the hospital with serious injuries after they were stabbed at about 6 p.m. local time Thursday. A 16-year-old who was treated for minor knife injuries was arrested for conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm, and another male was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, police said.

Winnie Mandella Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, the wife of civil rights icon Nelson Mandela during South Africa's apartheid struggle, died Monday, a family spokesman said. She was 81.

Madikizela-Mandela died in Johannesburg's Milpark Hospital, where she was being treated for a kidney infection.
