Florida utility regulators today powered down an $11.4 million program designed to promote green energy, but whose budget overwhelmingly funded marketing and administrative costs.
The program, operated by Florida Power & Light and Austin, Texas-based Green Mountain Energy Company, charged willing FPL customers a $9.75 monthly fee in addition to their regular power bills. The parties were supposed to develop an extra 150 kilowatts of solar energy for every 10,000 residential customers who signed on to the Sunshine Energy program.

Perle Linked to Kurdish Oil Plan
Mr. Perle, one of a group of security experts who began pushing the case for toppling Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein about a decade ago, has been discussing a possible deal with officials of northern Iraq's Kurdistan regional government, including its Washington envoy, according to these people and the documents.
TVNL Comment: Perle is a PNAC crazy who spoke about needing a "new Pearl Harbor" for America to accept their plans.
Industry Gushed Money After Reversal on Drilling
Campaign contributions from oil industry executives to Sen. John McCain rose dramatically in the last half of June, after the senator from Arizona made a high-profile split with environmentalists and reversed his opposition to the federal ban on offshore drilling.
Oil and gas industry executives and employees donated $1.1 million to McCain last month -- three-quarters of which came after his June 16 speech calling for an end to the ban -- compared with $116,000 in March, $283,000 in April and $208,000 in May.
TVNL Comment: Gee, what happened to the term "flip-flop"? Oh, that was reserved for Democrats.
Bush administration taking early step toward taking oil from vast Western shale deposits
The Bush administration wants to start a process before leaving office for developing oil shale, rocky deposits in the western United States that eventually could yield 800 billion barrels of oil, according to government estimates.
The Interior Department is scheduled to unveil proposed regulations Tuesday for a program to sell oil shale leases on federal lands, similar to the leases sold now for oil and natural gas both on and offshore.
TVNL Comment: The looting mission continues.
GM readies Volt unveiling to shift focus from crisis
General Motors Corp is rushing to finish the production version of its Chevy Volt and plans to unveil a showroom-ready model of the heavily touted electric car in September, people familiar with the project say.
A GM spokesman declined to comment on the timeline for its next announcements on the Volt, which will include naming a supplier for the vehicle's lithium-ion battery pack, the single most expensive element of the vehicle and the component seen as critical to its success.
Citing Need for Assessments, U.S. Freezes Solar Energy Projects
Faced with a surge in the number of proposed solar power plants, the federal government has placed a moratorium on new solar projects on public land until it studies their environmental impact, which is expected to take about two years.
TVNL Comment: But there are no trepidations when it comes to building more coal burning or nuclear power plants...or when it comes to drilling for more oil. This is clearly a conspiracy. It does not get any more obvious than this.
Solar powered electric car
There's a good reason the powers that be work so hard to try to dumb and beat us down. We're damn hard to tame, and they know it.
If you want the plans for this car, they're here...
