Couple arrested for dancing while waiting for the train in New York.

A couple waiting for the train to arrive decided to dance a little but they were arrested by New York City Police officers.

Caroline Stern, 55, and her boyfriend George Hess, 54, claim they were handcuffed by having happy feet on the platform of the subway station at Columbus Circle and spent 23 hours in custody as a result.

More Demands on Cell Carriers in Surveillance

In the first public accounting of its kind, cellphone carriers reported that they responded to a startling 1.3 million demands for subscriber information last year from law enforcement agencies seeking text messages, caller locations and other information in the course of investigations.

The reports also reveal a sometimes uneasy partnership with law enforcement agencies, with the carriers frequently rejecting demands that they considered legally questionable or unjustified. At least one carrier even referred some inappropriate requests to the F.B.I.

Extreme weather threatening water supply in Central Kentucky

Water shortage in KentuckyAs a result of continuing high temperatures and limited rainfall, the Energy and Environment Cabinet Friday announced a water shortage watch for 27 counties in Kentucky, including Fayette and surrounding counties according to a news release. A

watch means the extreme weather has the "potential to threaten the normal availability of drinking water supply sources," according to the release.

NYPD labels people “professional agitators” for filming police

The New York Police Department apparently classifies individuals who choose to exercise their right to videotape police engaging in their public duties “professional agitators” as revealed by a poster inside the NYPD’s 30th Precinct.

While this is hardly surprising coming from a police department so woefully corrupt that an officer who actually attempted to do his job by exposing rampant, systematic corruption ended up being thrown in a psychiatric ward by his superiors, it is troubling nonetheless.

High court strikes down key parts of Arizona immigration law

Arizona law unconstitutionalThe Supreme Court on Monday struck down key parts of the tough anti-illegal immigration law enacted by Arizona in 2010.

The law had made it a crime for non-citizens who are unlawfully present in the United States to work in Arizona and requires police officers to check the immigration status of any person whom they have probable cause to believe is an illegal immigrant.

“Don’t Be Alarmed”: Army Trains MPs To Drive Tanks On U.S. Streets

St Louis City residents have been warned to not be alarmed at the sight of U.S. Army tanks rolling down residential neighborhoods after sightings of the vehicles provoked fears of martial law.

The exercise is part of a U.S. Army program run by military police from Fort Meade, Maryland focused around training MPs from St. Louis how to drive heavily armored tanks “on highways and on city streets.”
